Uploading and configuring a new project
Every project in Inwista starts the same way: media goes in, a configured transcription comes out. This guide walks through creating a project — adding a file from your device or straight from cloud storage, choosing who can see it, and tuning the settings that shape the result.
Starting a new project
The project dashboard has two lists, and the split is about access:
- Private projects Visible only to you.
- Shared projects Visible to everyone in your current workspace.
Click + New project to open the upload dialog.
Add your media
Drag your file into the drop zone or click to browse. Inwista accepts .mp3, .mp4, .mpeg, .mpga, .m4a, .wav, .webm, .ogg, .heic, .mov and .avi — and if you'd rather capture something on the spot, the Record tab records audio directly in the browser.
The Shared project toggle decides visibility before anything is uploaded: off keeps the project private to you, on shares it with your workspace.
Importing from cloud storage
Below the drop zone you'll find Or import from — pull your media straight from the cloud instead of downloading it to your device first. Inwista fetches the file directly from the provider, which is noticeably faster for large recordings.
- OneDrive & SharePoint One Microsoft connection covers both. Browse your files right inside the dialog — the tile shows whichever product your connection points to.
- Google Drive Opens Google's own file picker. You choose a single file, and that file is the only thing Inwista gets access to.
- Dropbox Browse your Dropbox folders inside the dialog and pick the recording.
- Box Works the same way — browse and select without leaving Inwista.
Providers you haven't connected yet show a Connect link that takes you to Workspace → Integrations. Each provider has its own step-by-step guide in the Integrations section of this help center.
Configure the transcription
Two settings decide how Inwista processes the audio:
- Output language Choose from over 70 languages. Picking a language different from the audio translates the transcript in the same pass.
- Speaker diarisation Labels who said what. Leave it on automatic, or specify the exact number of speakers (2–6) for higher accuracy.
Refine the result
Two optional controls fine-tune accuracy and tone:
- Glossary Attach a custom word list so names, brand spellings and industry terms come out right the first time.
- Temperature Controls how strictly Inwista sticks to the audio. Lower is verbatim and literal; higher reads smoother and more natural.
Hit Start transcription and Inwista takes it from there — you'll land in the editor as soon as the transcript is ready.
