Choosing the Right Text Format

Inwista offers four distinct transcription formats to suit your specific content goals. Whether you are creating a written transcript for documentation or dynamic subtitles for social media, selecting the right style is crucial.

1. Where to select format

This is the final step in the configuration process. After you have uploaded your file and adjusted your settings, you will reach the Format tab. Here, you must decide how Inwista should structure the sentences before clicking Start transcription.

2. Best for Text & Documentation

If your primary goal is to work with the text itself—such as creating meeting minutes, articles, or detailed scripts—we recommend the following format:

  • Long and content-rich: Produces sentences that span multiple lines, capturing deeper dialogue and complex ideas in natural paragraphs. While this works for subtitles, it is the optimal choice for pure text editing and reading.

3. Best for Video Subtitles

For video content, readability and pacing are key. Choose one of these formats based on your distribution platform:

  • Short and concise: The industry standard for YouTube and desktop viewing. Sentences are kept to a single line, ensuring subtitles are easy to read without covering too much of the video.
  • Extra short sentences: Designed specifically for mobile screens. This format breaks text into very short segments, making it perfect for vertical videos like TikTok, Reels, and Shorts.

4. High Energy Social Clips

For content that requires maximum engagement and fast pacing:

  • Word by word: Displays one word at a time as it is spoken. This format creates a high-energy visual rhythm, perfect for keeping retention on short, punchy social media clips. Note: This format is strictly for video use and is not suitable for document editing.
